Myra Janell is a DMV native. She began singing at the age of 2. Growing up in a musical family her parents, grandparents, and extended family history influenced her love of gospel, R&B, and old school music. Taking after her mother’s musical talent, she immediately discovered her God-given ability. She sang in the Children’s choir at church, chorus in middle school and until freshman year of high school. During an open mic night on the campus of Radford University, she sang her first solo, “Lift Every Voice and Sing.” After becoming comfortable on stage and breaking free of her stage fright, she began to take on opportunities throughout her college career. She was able to sing for her President, in front of Malcolm X daughter, IIyasah Shabazz, and during Step Show engagements in 2018. By 2020, she began writing her first single, Stay. She later released Stay on August 15, 2021 with the help of Producers Quinntarantino and Ay Rock. Stay is an anthem song to break free of negative energy, keep a positive mindset, be mindful of the company you keep, and to not forget where you come from. She hopes to continue to emerge as a Independent artist within her writing, musicianship, and go in the direction God leads her. Her musical influences are CeCe Winans, Tasha Cobbs-Leonard, Mary Mary, and the list goes on. She is excited about her upcoming EP (Featuring ATM Almighty, Bré Contae, Noori Belai, Producers Cashflowbeats and Quinntarantino) entitled Interlude to Myra Janell released on May 22, 2022. This project addresses what are the intentions you have with yourself and with others in your life, what it means to keep it real and being open to express your emotions. While waiting on God for your time and to be patient while trusting the process as He leads you. Do not forget God when you wake up because it is a blessing to be able to breathe daily and that He is the only one who can make you whole.
